WHY FOOD? WHY NOW?
Tackling one of the most important global grand challenges of our time: FOOD. High school students unite during a 2-week design sprint with access to expert mentors, industry leaders, university researchers, and policy leaders. Hear why it’s about finding solutions through collaboration and bringing BIG, BOLD ideas to ensure #ZeroHunger, #ZeroFoodWaste, and #FoodEquity in Rhode Island and around the world!

Hack For Global Good returns for its 3rd consecutive year, connecting high school students to address the urgent challenge:
How does FOOD affect People, Production, and Policy?
High school teams will explore FOOD under 3 key areas
People
Farmers, agricultural technologists, vendors, food pantries, growers and vulnerable populations.
The the overall goal:
zero-hunger!
Production
Vertical farming, hydroponic techniques, robotics, GMO, seed saving/genetic ownership, innovative farming techniques, clean food, etc.
The the overall goal:
zero-waste!
Policy
Around sustainable food systems, access, transportation, health, affordability, and safety.
The the overall goal:
food equity!
We are excited to announce that H4GG 2020 is going virtual this November! Join us this November 2020 as Hack For Global Good, RI’s statewide social impact high school hackathon returns for its third consecutive year.
How does FOOD affect People, Production, and Policy?
High school teams will explore FOOD under 3 key areas
People
Farmers, agricultural technologists, vendors, food pantries, growers and vulnerable populations.

Production

THE PITCH
Teams have just 5 minutes to present and share on stage using powerpoint, video, posters, art, music, a physical prototype, a working model, 3D rendering, or any other method to explain their idea/solution.
Teams must be ready to clearly articulate the following before a panel of industry Judges:
1) The problem, the solution, and the impact (local/global reach)
2) A solution that qualifies as one of the Awards’ Categories.
